The Passing of a Legend

Thursday 27 February 2014

Yesterday we were unfortunate to hear the sad news of the passing of Paco de Lucia, whilst playing with his children on a beach in Cancun, Mexico.

Chances are, wherever you are in the world reading this you have heard of Flamenco and Spanish guitar, this is arguably due to one man - the late, great, Paco de Lucia.

Perhaps his greatest and most well know piece was the hauntingly beautiful Entre Dos Aguas.

Excuse the rather crude and lazy comparison, but this man was simply Flamenco's answer to The Beatles. Paco was widely accepted as Flamenco's greatest guitarist, and in some quarters Spain's greatest export, but it's his innovation which will set him apart from the rest when history comes calling to decide what his legacy will be.

Rio Ancho - just close your eyes, clear your mind, and listen.

RIP Pace de Lucia - a true legend.
